Introduction: Hormonal changes during menopause influence blood glucose regulation and frequently complicate diabetes mellitus (DM) management. These conditions may negatively affect the physical, psychological, and social well-being of women, ultimately lowering their quality of life. Regular physical activity, particularly walking exercise, is considered a simple, safe, and effective intervention to improve health outcomes in this population.
Aim: This study aims to analyze and determine the differences in the quality of life of menopausal women with DM before and after participating in 30 minutes of walking exercise.
Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used involving 86 menopausal women with DM. Participants were divided equally into two groups: 43 women in the intervention group performing a 30-minute walking exercise and 43 women in the control group without intervention. Data were collected using demographic questionnaires, the Standard Operating
Results: The analysis revealed a significant improvement in the quality of life among menopausal women with DM after the walking exercise. A highly significant difference was found between pre- and post-test scores in the intervention group (t = 16.729; p = 0.000), while the control group showed no notable improvement.
Conclusion: A structured 30-minute walking exercise program significantly enhances the quality of life of menopausal women with DM. These findings emphasize the importance of incorporating walking exercise into public health strategies, particularly in Puskesmas, to support better diabetes control and overall well-being
