Abstract

The physical environment and the role it plays in language acquisition, particularly in English Language Teaching (ELT) context is being recognized as a factor that not only enhances cognitive development but also has emotions involved. Green spaces, known for their relaxing benefits, can enhance concentration and reduce mental fatigue, both of which contribute to creating an ideal setting for learning. In addition, natural light has been associated with better mood and motivation, contributing to sustained attention and involvement in language tasks among English language learners. Incorporating the above-mentioned environmental features in ELT classrooms provides what is a more integrative form of education, in which the students' quality of life is at least as important as their achievements in the school/educational system. What is more, the out-of-classroom activities that promote the language learning different from learning paper at home but based on my environment and experiences such as exploring environment and interacting with the real-world materials to provide the language involved are very compared to paper work. These are not only empowering of involvement, but they also accommodate different types of learning, making the classroom more inclusive. What is more, the idea of green pedagogy, which includes environmental issues in ELT teaching materials, allows students to be exposed to global issues, such as the environment and climate change, and to develop language skills at the same time. This linguistic and interdisciplinary twist also fosters critical thinking and ecological consciousness, thus readying students to tackle broader issues. In sum, on-site physical classroom environment blended with outdoor and green pedagogic practices, highlights a multi-faceted strategy to enrich language learning and cultivate lifelong learning habits in ELT teaching and learning.

Based on these purposes, this article explores environmental factors such as green spaces and natural light that influence language learning processes in the context of English Language Teaching. The analysis considers how these factors affect students’ individual, emotional, and social involvement in the language learning process: this investment strengthens concentration, reduces stress, and inspires motivation. The article also explains the concrete advantages of learning in natural conditions and how this atmosphere encourages student adaptation and investment by providing them with realistic and natural opportunities to apply their language in practice. Another point explained in this article is the concept of green pedagogy that combines environmental learning approaches in English Language Teaching and opens new potentials for multi-disciplinary connections and critical thinking about language learning through environmental issues, such as sustainable development. The article concludes that environmentally supportive and changeable learning contexts can significantly contribute to the development of English skills than traditional classroom methods.
